Atleti earned a 2-0 win against Betis at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Llorente and Suárez provided the goals as our team went unbeaten in the last 21 LaLiga games – our best ever streak.

The first half was relatively uneventful, although Suarez did have a couple of chances but was off target on both occasions. The visitors also had a few attempts, but Oblak was well positioned each time to deny every strike.

The second half was a whole other story. Carrasco and Herrera came on for Lemar and Torreira at half-time, and Llorente scored a fantastic goal just 20 seconds after the break. It was the perfect start. Although Oblak was forced to make another good save, Atleti played well and constantly attacked throughout the second 45’. Correa made way for Joao Félix as Herrera struck the post from the edge of the box. Suárez also was also close to doubling our lead, but an inspired Claudio Bravo dived low to deny the Uruguayan. Montoya was sent off with 20’ to go for bringing down Carrasco as the Belgian was through on goal following a VAR review. Lodi and Vitolo came on for Hermoso and Carrasco – injury – as the game progressed and Suárez applied the icing on the cake in stoppage time to make things 2-0.
