Atleti earned a dramatic win over Alavés on Sunday to pick up three key points in LaLiga. Suárez scored the goal and Oblak saved a penalty in the 85th minute.

Both sides struggled to create problems for the opposition in the opening half hour. Savic had the first chance for our team 30’ in – forcing Pacheco to concede a corner. Suárez almost found the breakthrough in the dying minutes of his first half, but his right-foot strike from the edge of the box was inches wide of the post.

Atleti started well the second half and finally opened the scoreboard in the 54th minute. Trippier provided an excellent cross and Suárez found the back of the net. Llorente almost doubled our lead shortly thereafter as he struck from inside the box and Pacheco pulled off an extraordinary save to deflect the ball on to the crossbar.

Simeone made a double substitution with 15’ to go, when Herrera and Saúl came on for Lemar and Correa. Our team was controlling the game until the referee awarded a penalty to Alavés in the 85th minute. Joselu stepped up to take it… and Oblak pulled off an exceptional save to help us earn the three points.
