Atleti lost on Saturday after going unbeaten in the previous 26 LaLiga games as Real Madrid won 2-0 at the Di Stéfano.

After a period in which we dominated possession, the hosts had the first big chance of the game as Benzema struck and Oblak made an exceptional save. Unfortunately, Real Madrid took the lead via a Casemiro header after 15’. Zidane’s side dominated most of the first half, but Atleti improved as the match progressed.

Nonetheless, Simeone made a triple change at half-time as Felipe, Herrera and Carrasco made way for Lodi, Correa and Lemar. The Frenchman had a massive chance from close range after a Llorente cross but was off target. We were getting closer, and we made another substitution bringing Saúl on for Joao Félix. However, the hosts doubled their lead as Carvajal volleyed the ball from long range and the ball went in after rebounding on the post and Oblak. Simeone’s final substitution was bringing Kondogbia on for Suárez with just over 10’ to go. We had massive chance for Atleti as Saúl headed Lodi’s cross from close range, but Courtois answered with a great save. Our team never stopped trying, but the game ultimately finished 2-0 and our unbeaten run in LaLiga came to an end.
