LaLiga is back!
Our league season will officially kick-off tonight in Mestalla at 8 p.m. CET.
After starting our season in the best possible manner with our UEFA Super Cup win in Tallinn against Real Madrid, it's time to switch the focus to LaLiga. Our league season will officially kick-off in a difficult stadium against a tough team. Valencia awaits at Mestalla.
Last season, Valencia finished fourth in the league and we were undefeated against them in LaLiga with a draw at Mestalla and a win at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Our boys have never lost the first league match of the season under Diego Pablo Simeone and our boss is looking to make sure things stay that way. However, he knows how difficult it is to face Valencia, especially under Marcelino García Toral.
"We’re going to face one of the most important teams in LaLiga. They’ve improved a lot under Marcelino. Their playing style is similar to ours, with a few differences from the coach. They focus on structure, teamwork, hardworking and their speed," Simeone said. "Surely, with Gameiro they’ll improve their offense even more, as he plays up top with Rodrigo. We’re expecting the same thing whenever we play in Valencia: a beautiful atmosphere, lots of fans and enthusiasm in a great stadium. It’ll be a great match."
