LaLiga returns to the Wanda Metropolitano as Atleti take on Elche on matchday 2. The game is to be played at 7.30pm CET on Sunday and will see our fans return to the stadium for the first time since March 2020.
Simeone’s men earned a 2-0 win at Celta on matchday 1 in what was a hard-fought game. Ángel Correa netted a brace and earned us the three points.
On the other hand, Elche hosted Athletic Club and earned a goalless draw.
The last time both sides met was on May 1, 2021. Atleti earned a narrow 1-0 away win on the day thanks to Llorente’s goal – which brought us one step closer to the LaLiga title we secured a few weeks later. In the reverse fixture, we won 3-1 in December 2020 as Suárez netted a brace and Diego Costa scored the final goal from the penalty spot.
