Koke acknowledged that last Tuesday’s defeat left the team "a little hurt. We were eager to start the Champions League with a win but it could not be. We have another game on Saturday against Celta, which we’re looking forward to. We have to be strong at home and win".

Today marks one thousand days of Simeone leading the team. Koke only had words of praise for his coach, both at individual and team levels. He said, "he’s meant everything to me personally. He’s given me confidence and that virtue of going out to matches and play as I am; and the eagerness to win every match. He's made Atlético de Madrid grow at all levels football wise and personally".

What’s important is that we always go out to win and to play our game

The home-grown player made it very clear that "in the end, Atlético de Madrid goes out to win. We’re not aggressive or kick. What’s important is that we always go out to win and to play our game".

To finish, he made light of what happened against Olympiacos. He said, "it’s nothing to worry about. It’s the first defeat of the season and we have many high level games played and with a lot of effort. We had bad luck in Athens and we lost. We mustn’t look back. The important thing is that we go out stongly on Saturday and win the three points".
