A LIVING ROJIBLANCO LEGEND

Koke Resurrección plays his 700th game for Atlético de Madrid

Our captain, who had long since surpassed the 553 games played by Adelardo, cemented his legendary status in the clash against Getafe.

Jorge Resurrección 'Koke' continues to build on his legacy, and with his appearance in Sunday's fixture against Getafe, the midfielder from Vallecas has reached 700 games in an Atlético de Madrid shirt.

Having risen through our academy since 2000 - joining at just eight years old - he made his debut with the first team on 19 September 2009 against FC Barcelona. Now at the age of 33 and in his seventeenth season, he continues to break barriers.

As well as being the player with the most official appearances in Atlético history - comfortably surpassing Adelardo Rodríguez's 553 - Koke is also the second footballer with the highest number of seasons as Atlético captain (7) since the sport became professional in Spain in 1926. He is behind only Enrique Collar, who held the captaincy for ten seasons between 1959 and 1969.

With two LALIGA titles, one Copa del Rey, two Europa League titles, two Supercopas de Europa and one Supercopa de España to his name, Koke is the second most decorated Atlético player ever, tied with Diego Godín and just two titles shy of Adelardo.

Congratulations on this remarkable milestone and continue making history, Captain!
