Koke equals Calleja as fifth Atleti player with the most official matches
Koke reached his 425th game as a Red & White during Sunday’s clash against Valladolid, thus equalling Calleja. Only Adelardo, Tomás, Collar and Aguilera remain ahead of our captain.
Koke continues to make Atlético de Madrid history and during Sunday’s match in Valladolid the Spaniard equalled our legend Isacio Calleja as the fifth player with the most official games (425) for our club.
Calleja was an Atleti player between 1958 and 1972, and during those 14 seasons played 425 matches. Now, only Adelardo Rodríguez (553), Tomás Reñones (483), Enrique Collar (470) and Carlos Aguilera (456) remain ahead of Koke.
Our captain is into his 11th season as an Atleti first team player and has been key to our team’s successes in the last few years, having won seven trophies (Europa League (two), UEFA Super Cup (two), LaLiga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup). Koke became first captain this summer, succeeding Diego Godín.
