Juanfran: "The team is ambitious and that’s the direction we’ll continue to go"
Juanfran Torres spoke in the mixed zone after the match against Vigo. Content with the goal, but mostly for direct qualification in to next years Champions League, he reflected the ambition of the team to win every game remaining until the end of the season.
The Atletico defender was proud of the great season Atletico Madrid are having and said the team has strength for much more. "We are pleased to seal third place but we want more. We want to win on Sunday against Barcelona, winning the final against Real Madrid, winning the two games remaining after that in the League. The team is ambitious and that’s the direction we’ll continue to go."
Atletico's second goal came from the man from Alicante who shared his happiness of having found the net. He also encouraged the fans to be proud of the great season under manager Diego Pablo Simeone. "To score is very nice, but it took a long time. My role is not to score many goals but overall I am happy to help the team win. Everyone is watching us, how we do things, and once more the Atletico fans can be proud of their team."
With third place secured, Juanfran is pleased with a brilliant season and concluded remarking on the union of the dressing room and the desire to achieve wins in all remaining fixtures. "We do not care about anything but us. What matters is that we're good, we're very close and I think that's the best way to get victorias. We want to beat Barca, beat Real Madrid and win the other league games left I think it would put the icing on a fantastic season."
