Diego Pablo Simeone's side took on a great Premier League rival in Oslo after their 4-0 win over CD Numancia in Soria. A match that was expected to be more evenly matched and it wasn't until the final stages that the balance was decided.
The match started off very evenly, with both teams making occasional attacks and taking advantage of counter-attacks to attack the space. The Red and Whites were looking to get to the byline to get crosses into the box and that was how the most dangerous moves on the opposition goal came about. After the loss, there was good pressure from the whole group, and they were very organised in defence.
After the break the tone of the match seemed to be the same, power to power duels and occasional dangerous chances in both areas. On the hour mark, the team rotated, bringing on Morata and Joao Félix among others. They would be the protagonists of the goal in the 87th minute. A steal in the rival half allowed Morata to control the ball with his back to goal, which found Joao Félix who, after a run, opened the scoring with a shot just inside the post.
On a positive note, Nahuel Molina played his first minutes as a red and white player and had a very solid game, helping out in defence and getting forward in attack.
