MATCH PREVIEW

It’s UEFA Super Cup time!

Our team is looking to win our first trophy of the season at 9 p.m. CET against Real Madrid in Tallinn, Estonia.

It’s here. Our first official match of the season has arrived and it’s a big one. At 9 p.m. CET, we’ll face Real Madrid at the Lilleküla Stadium for the UEFA Super Cup.

Following our preseason, which saw us play in Singapore, Germany, Italy and Spain, it's time to switch the focus to the Super Cup and start off the season with a bang.

This is our third time playing for a UEFA Super Cup and the past two ended in resounding Atleti victories (2-0 over Inter and 4-1 over Chelsea).

Diego Pablo Simeone knows of the importance of this match and if we lift the trophy, he’ll become our most successful manager ever. On Monday, the team flew to Tallinn and is ready to play.

“We’re going to play the match in the best possible way for us to be able to seize control of it,” Simeone said. “Everyone who is here is ready to play.”

“Based on their [Real Madrid] last two matches, perhaps we can see how tomorrow’s game will go,” he continued. “They pressure well when they lose the ball and pressure high up to pitch to recover the ball.”

Julen Lopetegui will also want to start his Real Madrid tenure with success. A great match awaits at the Lilleküla Stadium
