On Friday February 1st at the International Tourism Fair Club Atlético de Madrid met the Azerbaijan delegation who are in the capital of Spain for the event to celebrate the partnership between the Land of Fire and the club.
Enrique Cerezo chaired the official reception of the Azerbaijani delegation, accompanied by Oscar Gil, director of Club Atlético de Madrid, Antonio Alonso, vice president of commercial, Emilio Gutierrez, director of marketing, image and institutional relations; Mario Aragon, director general of administration, Fernando Fariza, social area director, Guillermo Moraleda, Commercial Director; Germán Robles, director of the Atletico Madrid Foundation, Jose Luis Perez Caminero, director of football, and the players and coaching staff of the first team, headed by coach Diego Pablo Simeone.
It was the president of Club Atlético de Madrid to first take the floor to "welcome the Azeri delegation, represented by the Minister here, who is with us today in this act that gives us the opportunity to strengthen business strategies of then club, Atletico Madrid, and the country, Azerbaijan."
"I want to stress the vision that Atletico Madrid has links as a global communication platform, and thank the institutions that have provided support to this exciting and innovative challenge to publicize the benefits and resources of their country. Within our strategic international expansion plan, Atletico Madrid has been working to introduce its brand in certain markets of interest", he acknowledged.
The rojiblanco leader stated that "in order to consolidate our position internationally, the club has made a commitment to Azerbaijan, a country with great economic potential and significant resources. Azerbaijan is a country with an ancient historical heritage that after gaining independence reached a high level of human, economic and cultural development. Azerbaijan is, above all, a country that wants to grow and invest in its development as a tourist destination, as well as modernization and innovation in the field of Science and Technology, to help boost its economy."
"We believe that Azerbaijan has found an ideal partner in Atletico Madrid, because as a sports organisation, we think that football, the media dimension that we reach internationally, and the values we represents, make it a strategic tool for cultures to build closer links between peoples and individuals. Sport is an excellent platform for global communication, used to transfer messages, actions and project in global business strategies," he stated seconds after his first appearance.
For Enrique Cerezo and Atletico Madrid, "there are few tools or devices in the market, capable of achieving a global impact of great magnitude. There is no corner of the world where they do not know the most important players of our teams and the shirts the top clubs in Europe wear. Through this agreement, Atletico Madrid has made a commitment to walk a common path which will act as a strategic partner with Azerbaijan and we will work to achieve the objectives of a country to which we hope to provide new successes and new titles."
"From now on, we will carry out a series of actions to improve the level of football in a country that has already demonstrated a passion for the sport, and work on the implementation of various schools and training programs, through Baku Football Club, through its Chairman who is with us, and the country's football federation. It is also our hope that the link established with Atletico Madrid, is the bridge that opens the way for promoting bilateral relations between Spain and Azerbaijan, in all areas and sectors of interest to both countries," he said.
Finally, he recalled that "the slogan of 'Azerbaijan, Land of Fire' and its flames, will now be on our shirts, to reinforce the passion, energy and strength that has always characterized us and to encourage all the world to travel to Azerbaijan to see the treasures that holds this country holds."
Then, Yashar Seidov, vice president of Baku FC, the best known club in the Azeri capital, echoed the words of the rojiblanco chairman, claiming among other things that "our country has a lot in common with Atletico Madrid. It is one of the clubs most followed by our citizens and in their squad are players who are greatly respected in our country such as Arda Turan".
The then showed two videos which demonstrated the union between Atletico and Azerbaijan, as well as the infinite virtues and excellences of the 'land of fire'. The president of Club Atlético de Madrid and the Azerbaijani delegation sealed the partnership agreement, followed by a group photo with the players of Atletico Madrid, and that ended the welcome ceremony for the visit of the country's official at the stands at FITUR.
