Atleti drew 2-2 at Levante on Thursday. Griezmann and Cunha scored our goals, whereas Levante scored twice from the penalty spot. Simeone was sent off in the second half.

We started the game brilliantly – with Joao Félix producing an early chance that was saved by the keeper. But it didn’t take us long to take the lead. Griezmann headed home to become fourth in our club’s all-time goalscorer list. Simeone’s men dominated the majority of the first half. However, in the 37th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Levante and the hosts equalised from the spot. We therefore reached half-time with the score at 1-1.

Atleti had a good chance in the opening moments of the second half following a good collective play. However, we struggled to create chances for a while after that as Levante’s defensive organisation improved. De Paul and Correa replaced Herrera and Suárez just before the hour mark. Simeone made a further switch by bringing Lodi on for Hermoso. We kept pushing but struggled to break down Levante’s defence. Cunha came on for Griezmann in the 72nd minute – and it proved to be a gamechanger. The Brazilian scored just three minutes later to put us back in front. De Paul provided a fantastic assist. Simeone was sent off in the 80th minute and in the 89th minute, Levante were awarded their second penalty of the night, which they converted. The game ended 2-2.
