ATLETI LIVING HISTORY

Griezmann becomes Atlético de Madrid's all-time top scorer

With his goal against Real Madrid, the French striker surpasses the 'Sabio de Hortaleza' and becomes the top scorer in the history of Atlético de Madrid.

Antoine Griezmann has overtaken Luis Aragonés as the top scorer in the history of our club by scoring his 174th goal as a Red & White player. The Frenchman has reached the top of the scoring between his two spells in Madrid, from 2014 to 2019 and from 2021 to the present.

The love affair between Antoine and Atleti began one night in September 2014 in Greece, when he scored his first goal as an Atleti player against Olympiacos. 173 goals after that strike in Greece, the Frenchman has surpassed the record set by Luis Aragonés in 1974.

Luis Aragonés, who played in the Red & White jersey for ten seasons between 1964 and 1974, playing a total of 370 matches, distributed his goals in the different competitions in which he played: he scored 123 goals in the league, 22 in the Cup, 12 in the European Cup, 8 in the Fairs Cup, 4 in the Cup Winners Cup, 3 in the UEFA Cup and one goal in the International Cup; an official competition preceding the Intertoto in whose 1968 edition our team competed.

Congratulations, Antoine! You are and will be an Atleti legend.
