Our team thrashed Córdoba in an evening of vibrant football on the banks of the Manzanares.

The team coached by Simeone linking for the first time in the season four consecutive victories, with Córdoba’s win (4-2). With patience and perseverance, our team claimed a new victory for a committed Vicente Calderón. Atlético dominated the match overall and rounded Cordoba up in their box as the minutes went by. The first warning arrived soon enough, a hard shot from Koke from outside the box that crashed on the crossbar. Other chances followed, but it was not until the end of the first part when Griezmann took advantage of a parried ball after foul to put our team ahead.
The intensity did not decline at the beginning of the second half. The Andalusian team, with a well-drilled defence, kept to the first half’s course: not conceding gaps and exhausting their options on the counterattack and set pieces. Córdoba equalized the match with a header by Ghilas from a corner.
Simeone’s team rebuilt to perfection from the conceded goal and Griezmann scored to place our team ahead again. The Frenchman came early to the near post and headed to the net a measured cross from Juanfran. Minutes later, Mandžukić continued his love affair with the goal. The Croatian, who’s scored in the last three games, completed foul masterfully bounced from the side by Koke. In the final minutes, Raúl García closed the scoring with a header after an assist from Koke. Atlético’s home-grown player, one of the heroes of the match, has provided 11 assists in the League so far this season.
Córdoba did not surrender and shortened distances on 87 minutes with a shot by Ghilas from inside the box, but the triumph stayed at the Vicente Calderón. Our guys are still making the banks of the Manzanares into a fort where we have linked five victories in a row.
