Giménez, in the ideal eleven of the Copa América
He played three matches at a high level and scored the goal against Paraguay that gave the Charrúas the pass to the quarterfinals.
José María Giménez has been included in the ideal eleven of the first phase of the Copa América which takes place these days in Chile. Atlético’s defender, a regular in a national team as important as Uruguay's despite his 20 years of age, has once again shown his great quality as he did in the Brazil’s World Cup pairing up with another Atlético reference such as Diego Godín.
Giménez has played the three matches of the first phase of the 2015 Chile against Jamaica, Argentina and Paraguay, performing at a high level and scoring a goal against the Guarani national team in the last match of Group B which gave them the pass to the quarterfinals, where they will measure against Chile, the host.
The ideal eleven of this first phase is made up by: Claudio Bravo (Chile), Medel (Chile), Giménez (Uruguay), Thiago Silva (Brazil), Vidal (Chile), Carlos Sánchez (Colombia), Lobatón (Peru), Aranguiz (Chile), Messi (Argentina), Lucas Barrios (Paraguay) and Agüero (Argentina).
