Gabi: "The referee should have more dialogue with the player"

Gabi analysed the second leg of the King’s Cup match against FC Barcelona to the microphones of Canal +. "Atleti has done everything it had to do to try to win the qualifying round. We have suffered that unfortunate play (in relation to Miranda’s own goal), in the following one they scored the 2-3 and the qualifying round was over", said.

Our team went ahead in the first minute of play but team from Barcelona turned the scoreboard around with two goals on the counter and a set piece, something that affected the red and whites. "Of course it hurts, we were prepared to comeback. The truth is that Barcelona has been very accurate in these counterattack plays and we have missed those three goals," he said.

The captain was sent off at half-time. Gabi explained what happened. "My words were: 'Jesus, it was a penalty and send off and he told me, 'you’re out'." That has been my lack of respect towards him. I think he should have much more personality and more dialogue with the player. There were 50 people in front of us. That’s what happened. I said 'when you see it on TV, you'll see that it was a penalty and send off’ and he shouted 'you’re out'. That’s all that happened. We all make mistakes. You have to be fair, admit your mistakes and that’s it. Here’s nothing wrong with making mistakes, but you shouldn’t go any further and want to be the protagonist", he reflected.

Lastly, our captain declared to be "very proud of the team" since "I think that we are growing day day," he concluded.
