Gabi: "I want to continue making history and helping the team"

Gabi has extended his contract until 2017. The team’s first captain was excited about this new step in his sporting career. "I want to continue making history and helping the team", he said in his first interview after extending its commitment with the Club.
Gabriel Fernández Arenas, Gabi, forged in the lower categories of Atlético de Madrid, is one of the key players in the current team. In the 2003-2004 season he made the leap to the first team, debuting against Valencia, in Mestalla, in the League. He was loaned out to Getafe in 2004-2005, where he played 32 League games in the highest category. The second stage with Atlético de Madrid lasted two seasons, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007. He was then loaned out again, this time to Zaragoza, where he played for four seasons.
He returned home again, to stay, for the 2011-2012 season. The player from Madrid became essential and in the last three seasons has won the Europa League, the UEFA Super Cup, the King’s Cup and the League, these last three titles as the captain of Atlético’s ship.
