Fran Mérida rejoins the work with the rest of the squad

Intense session in Majadahonda to start off the week

The ‘rojiblanco’ squad returned to training after the day off given them by Quique Sánchez Flores after they defeated Osasuna. La Liga resumes this coming Sunday with a crucial match against Real Sociedad, and there’s no time to lose in preparing for this game.

Fran Mérida, who was unable to take part in the team’s last two matches after suffering a slight medial collateral sprain in his left knee, returned to training and worked out at the same pace as his teammates. For his part, Antonio López was injured during the course of the Osasuna-Atlético de Madrid encounter and did alternative work apart from the group.

The practice, which lasted two hours, was divided into two phases. In the first hour, all of the team members did conditioning work. For their part, David De Gea and Joel Robles, the first squad goalkeepers, trained with goalkeepers coach Emilio Suárez. During the second hour, the players who started the match against Osasuna this past Sunday, with the exception of Antonio López and David De Gea, did alternative work. The rest of the squad worked on finishing and wrapped up the practice with a small-sided practice game.

The General Manager of the Club, Jesús García Pitarch, attended the facilities in Majadahonda to show his support of the players and coaching staff as they head into the final stretch of the league championship.
