Fran Mérida joins the Under-21s along with De Gea and Domínguez
The midfielder takes the place of injured Ander Herrera
Fran Mérida has been called up by Under-21 the national team head coach, Luis Milla, to substitute injured Ander Herrera for the play-off qualifying round that Spain will play against Croatia and which could qualify them for the final stage of the European Cup in that age group. The fixtures against Croatia will take place on Saturday 9 October at Estadio El Plantío, in Burgos, and on Tuesday 12 October in the Croatian town of Varaznin.
Therefore, Fran Mérida joins ‘rojiblancos’ De Gea and Domínguez, who had been included in the original squad list.
