Fixture against Athletic Club postponed due to winter storm
The winter storm in Spain has prevented Athletic Club from travelling to Madrid and compromised the safety of our team, referees and club staff on their journeys due to the poor state of roads in the Madrid region.
Saturday’s fixture against Athletic Club at the Wanda Metropolitano (set for 4.15pm CET) has been postponed due to the winter storm that has hit large parts of Spain. The Basque team has not been able to travel to Madrid due to the temporary closure of the city’s airport. Moreover, the safety of our team, referees and club staff on their journeys had been compromised due to the poor state of roads in the Madrid region.
As a result, on Saturday morning LaLiga requested the RFEF Competition Committee to postpone the match due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the bad weather. The Committee ratified the decision not to play the match on Saturday as planned. The new date is to be announced in the next few days.
