Filipe Luis is a Confederations Cup Champion
Brazil beat Spain in the Maracana and Filipe Luis got his third title of the season after the Super Cup and Copa del Rey.
The Confederations Cup is the third trophy this season that Filipe Luis has claimed. After the European Super Cup win and the copa del rey title, the Brazilian signed off the season with a new title, this time with his selection. Brazil beat Spain 3-0 in the Maracana with goals from Fred (2) and Neymar to complete a perfect championship full of victories.
In the first phase, they beat Japan (3-0), Mexico (2-0) and Italy (4-2) and then beat the Uruguay of Godin and Cristian Rodriguez in tight 2-1 victory before the finale.
The spectacular season of the left full back saw him selected in the league 11 on UEFA.com, and Luiz Felipe Scolari rewarded him with a call up for the Confederations Cup. Upon selection he said: "It is a great joy to be part of a group that is very difficult to get in to. Brazil has produced many top players and it’s a pleasure to be on this list", he said. Filipe has become a fixture in the Atletico side since 2010.
The full back has played 130 games and won four titles, two European Super Cups, one UEFA Europa League and a Copa del Rey conquered in the month of May at the Bernabeu. With the Confederations Cup, Filipe Luis closes a spectacular season. However, the left full back strives for more "I'm eager and hungry for more games and titles. Hopefully the next season will be even better", he said before the final when speaking to the club's website.
