Fan Club Celebration Day against Villarreal
The match against the ‘yellow submarine’ will be unique, since it’ll be the first ever ‘Día de las Peñas’ in our new stadium
Atlético de Madrid will host Villarreal in the Wanda Metropolitano at 6:30 p.m. CET. The game will be a historic one, since it’ll be the first ever Fan Club Celebration Day in our new stadium.
Not only will tomorrow be special for the fans, but for Diego Godín as well. If the Uruguayan plays against the ‘yellow submarine’, he’ll become the foreign-born player with the most official matches for Atlético.
Villarreal are currently 6th in LaLiga with 16 points, three less than Atlético. In matchday 8, they beat Las Palmas 4-0. Diego Pablo Simeone knows the match will be a tough one, but is confident in the lads.
“All of our matches against them [Villarreal] are very tough and you have to play a great match, since they have great players,” he said in the pre-match press conference. “We’ll have to play a way that will make us feel most comfortable.”
