Esquivel becomes a first team player
The Málaga-born goalkeeper, who joined our Academy in 2021, will play under Diego Pablo Simeone from this season onwards.
Salvador Esquivel has become an Atlético de Madrid’s first team player. The goalkeeper, who made 29 appearances last season for our reserve side, will play under Diego Pablo Simeone from this season onwards.
The Málaga-born goalkeeper joined our Academy in 2021 and, since then, has continued to grow and develop through the various teams in our youth system until making the leap to the first team. His outstanding performances for our club have earned him a place in the Spanish Under-21s, for whom he made his debut in 2025.
Esquivel will wear the number ‘25’ shirt in this new chapter of his career.
