Diego Pablo Simeone celebrates 100 Champions League appearances

The Argentinian coach, who has already managed the most games in the club's history with 645, has now reached the 100th game in Europe's top competition.

Simeone continues to add to his legend. In addition to having become the coach with the most games in charge of Atlético de Madrid and the most successful coach in our history with eight titles, today, Tuesday 28 November, the Argentinian joins a select group of people who have managed a hundred or more UEFA Champions League games with the same team.

Only three coaches make up this select club, three historic coaches who are recognised as legends of the game: Sir Alex Ferguson, who after 27 seasons in charge of Manchester United reached 190 games, Arsene Wenger, with 177 games in charge of Arsenal, and now Simeone, with 100 games as a Red & White coach.

Simeone began his coaching career in Europe's top competition on 18 September 2013 with a 3-1 win over Zenit, thanks to goals from Miranda, Arda Turan and Baptistão. His record at the helm of Atlético de Madrid is 48 wins, 25 draws and 26 defeats, having scored 149 goals and conceded 103, as well as twice reaching the final of the tournament.

Likewise, since his first full season as Atleti coach, our team has always qualified for the group stage of the Champions League, a milestone matched only by Manchester City, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG in the last eleven seasons.
