9 GOALS SCORED AGAINST SEVILLE

Diego Costa is at home in the Pizjuan

The Brazilian striker opened the scoring at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan with the first two goals of the game, repeating what he did in the last league match of last season. Seville is the team that he has scored against the most since joining the Spanish football.

The team needed just thirty five minutes to get their first goal in the new season. Koke played the ball in from the corner, Miranda flicked the ball on at the near post and the ball reached Diego Costa who beat Beto. In the second half the Portuguese goalkeeper was against beaten by the Brazilian as Atleti started the campaign with three points. The season began like the last one had finished. On the final day of last season, Costa scored two goals in the Romareda, where we won 1-3, exactly the same score line to start the campaign.

Seville is the favorite opponent for the Brazilian international. In 10 appearances, he has managed to score against the Andalusians 9 times. First for Valladolid shirt in the 2009/2010 season, then with Rayo on two occasions during the 2010/2011 season and six times wearing the red and white shirt of Atletico Madrid, Costa has also provided four assists for his teammates against Sevilla. After the Andalusian teams he has scored 7 against Osasuna and 6 against Real Zaragoza.

Diego Costa was the undisputed start of the team in the tie against Unai Emery's men in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey last season and later against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. He scored twice in the first leg (2-1) and the first round (2-2). Diego Costa has shown a real liking for playing against the team from Andalusia and long may it continue.
