The game started with both teams measuring each other and with tentative arrivals to the opposing area. The Germans tried when Demirbay tried his luck from distance with a deflected shot. After the half hour mark, Atleti quickly took a free-kick and found Hermoso with the option of a cross. Shortly before the break Diaby shot again from a long way out and Grbic managed to get his hands to the ball without too much difficulty.
The second half began and Bayer 04 quickly had two great chances. Moments later it was De Paul who found the top corner with a shot from the right corner after a good combination of Griezmann, João and the Argentinian player, but Hrádecky sent the shot behind for a corner. However, one of the most dangerous chances of the game came from Schick, who after winning the ball on the edge of the area, managed to beat Grbic. Felipe had to make a masterful save to keep out the home side's goal.
In the final stretch, on the 84th minute, a good combination on the right flank allowed Frimpong to cross the ball to Andrich on the edge of the box, who struck the ball low into Grbic's goal. A few minutes later the Germans had a dangerous counterattack in which Frimpong again managed to put a great ball into the box where Diaby finished without the Croatian goalkeeper being able to do anything to prevent it, making it 2-0. That was the end of the game in Germany.
Although at times it was a very evenly matched game, the German team took the three points. The next game for our team will be the Madrid derby: Atleti - Real Madrid, on Sunday at 9pm at the Cívitas Metropolitano.
