Courtois: "We can be proud of how we played"
The goalkeeper spoke after the final whistle to draw positive conclusions about the Super Cup and kept looking forward.
After completing the game, Thibaut Courtois spoke in the mixed zone to give his assessment of the match and the title which unfortunately escaped his side due to away goals in favour of Barcelona. The keeper said it's hard to take a defeat when the team stood up to the best team in the world and reigning league champions with two straight draws: "We can be proud of how we played. It’s a shame that having drawn twice we lost the Super Cup due to a goal at home."
The experience is the foundation for growth of the players are positive after the Super Cup. Now we are better prepared and more confident as w face our commitments in the League, Cup and of course the Champions League: "The team is still growing. This serves for the next game in the league and especially with it being a game as difficult as the one in San Sebastian".
Finally, Thibaut Courtois thanked all the Atletico fans who travelled with his team to give them all the warmth and support in an important meeting and stressed that the commitment of squad to the fans is the same as always, total "thank you very much to all the fans who have supported us in the Camp Nou. We thank you for your support and promise to continue giving everything in every game."
