Correa's brace gives Atleti the three points
Win at the Cívitas Metropolitano against Girona thanks to two goals scored by the Argentinian striker.
The game began and Atleti were soon to take the lead. On the first arrival of the match, Reinildo with a long run reached three quarters of the rival's half, gave the ball to Griezmann who crossed to the far post where Correa finished the ball into the back of the net. Girona's first chance came from a series of bounces inside Oblak's area that ended with Yangel Herrera's shot going just over the crossbar. After 38 minutes, Atleti had a good chance in the boots of Cunha who, after a great pass from Griezmann, shot between the posts forcing Juan Carlos to intervene and send the ball out for a corner. Girona didn't want to let up too quickly and in the 66th minute a powerful shot from Atlético de Madrid loanee Riquelme hit Giménez slightly and deflected wide without Oblak being able to stop the ball. The young striker was applauded by the crowd at the Cívitas Metropolitano. In the 86th minute of play a similar action to the previous one took place, a powerful shot by Aleix García from the corner of the area that Oblak sent to a corner with a great save. This would be the last dangerous move of the game, Girona looked to play vertically in the stoppage time but the Atlético defence stood firm and did not give in at any time.
With this win, Atleti has 16 points in LaLiga. The team's next game will be on Wednesday 12, at 6:45pm for the match corresponding to the fourth day of the Champions League against Brugge in our stadium.
