Atleti picked up three important points on Thursday as we beat Huesca 2-0. Correa and Carrasco scored the goals and Llorente provided both assists.

The visitors were close to scoring early on as Oblak was forced to make a save from close range. Our team reacted and had a big double chance through Carrasco and Saúl, but Álvaro Fernández made an excellent double save. Simeone’s men enjoyed possession and were particularly dangerous down the wings – Trippier and Lodi, with the help from Llorente and Carrasco, attacked Huesca’s defence whenever possible. We finally found the breakthrough in the 39th minute as Trippier passed the ball to Llorente and the Spaniard found Correa. The Argentine made a fantastic turn and his left-foot strike was deflected into the back of the net.

There were no changes from either side at half-time and we had a massive chance very early on. Correa found Koke in the six-yard box, but our captain’s strike was saved by Álvaro Fernández. The keeper once again denied us from going two goals up following a shot from Lodi. The visitors made a triple change as Llorente has a penalty goal after being hit in the face. It was not given, however, following a VAR review. We had another big chance through Saúl after a big play from Llorente, but the keeper once again saved it. Dembélé then came on for Herrera, before Lodi made an exceptional defensive move to deny Sandro’s equaliser. It was a nervy moment, but we reacted in the best possible way – Carrasco found the back of the net after yet another Llorente assist. Simeone made four changes in the space of three minutes after that. Kondogbia, Torreira, Vitolo and Felipe came on for Carrasco, Correa, Lodi and Saúl and the game finished shortly thereafter as Atleti picked up three key points.
