The hosts collected a couple of early chances. The biggest was a left-foot shot from Januzaj that struck the post. Our team reacted well, and Carrasco also hit the post from close-range. Despite our improvement, Real Sociedad took the lead through a Januzaj header in the 33rd minute. Joao Félix struck the post from outside the box just before half-time, but we reached the break one goal down.
Unfortunately, Imanol Alguacil’s side doubled their lead early into the second half. Horloth was the goalscorer. Simeone reacted by making a triple change as Lemar, Cunha and Suárez replaced Lodi, Koke and Correa. However, the hosts stood their ground and made things difficult for us. We made a double substitution in the 78th minute, when Serrano and Carlos Martín came on for De Paul and Carrasco. Cunha had a massive chance to pull one back, but the keeper saved the one on one. The game ultimately ended 2-0 as our Copa del Rey campaign came to an end.
