Convincing win against Getafe
Ángel Correa and Diego Costa led Atlético to victory.
The first match of the year in the Wanda Metropolitano ended in a convincing Atlético de Madrid win.
Both teams started off strongly and Diego Costa had a great chance to score the first of the afternoon, but his shot wasn't on target. Later, Amath had two chances for Getafe, but Jan Oblak was there to make the saves.
In the 18th minute, an excellent Antoine Griezmann pass found Ángel Correa. The Argentine did the rest and scored the first goal. Atlético kept dominating the match and had several chances to double the lead. Costa kept insisting and his prize came in the 68th minute.
Costa's goal settled the match and gave Atleti a well-earned three points.
