Clément Lenglet signs until 2028
The French international defender has officially signed his new contract with our club.
Clément Lenglet and Atlético de Madrid have reached an agreement over the signing of the French international keeping him at the club until 2028. The centre-back, who played on loan this season, arrives on a free transfer and will be with the club for the next three seasons.
After learning his trade in the AS Nancy Youth Sector, he made his first-team debut in 2013 and achieved promotion to Ligue 1 in the 2015/16 season. He arrived in Spain in January 2017 when he signed for Sevilla, where he soon became a regular starter for the side. After a season and a half, he signed with FC Barcelona in the summer of 2018. He played 160 matches for the Catalan side and scored seven goals, helping the team to win one La Liga, a Copa del Rey and one Supercopa de España. After, he went on loan to Tottenham Hotspur (2022/23) and Aston Villa (2023/24) before joining Atlético de Madrid.
He has played 34 matches for our team so far, scoring three goals and providing two assists, taking him to a new level in his defensive game. His high-level performances earned him a recall to the France squad for the recent Nations League matches.
