Champions League crucial game
The European competition is back as we take on Brugge on Wednesday at 6:45pm CET.
On Wednesday at 6:45pm, the Champions League returns to the Cívitas Metropolitano. Atleti and Brugge face each other again a week after the Belgian side won on their home turf. The match will be directed by the Dutch referee Danny Makkelie with his compatriot Dennis Higler at the VOR.
After last matchday, the group was split in two: Porto and Leverkusen were, along with us, in a more backward position with three points, while Brugge took the lead with a total of nine points. With the Belgians in such an advantageous position, this match is crucial. With a chance for revenge on the table, they will be looking for a win to tighten up the group again and leave us another three points off the pace.
After the important 2-1 win against Girona at the Cívitas Metropolitano thanks to Ángel Correa's brace, the Belgian team visit our stadium after losing 0-2 on matchday 11 of the Jupiler Pro League against KVC Westerlo.
The record between the two clubs is two wins, one draw and two defeats. The last match played at our home ground, in the 18/19 season, ended in a 3-1 win at the Cívitas Metropolitano.
The next match, corresponding to the fourth matchday of the UEFA Champions League group stage, will take place on Wednesday 12 October at 6:45pm.
