Cerci’s debut at the Calderón
The Italian player received his shirt with the number 22 from the hands of the President and Sporting Manager. He also expressed his conviction of succeeding as an Atlético.
Alessio Cerci is now an Atlético. The Italian winger was welcomed to our Club by Enrique Cerezo and José Luis Pérez Caminero, who presented him with his new shirt with the number 22 on his back in an event that took place in the VIP Lounge of the Vicente Calderón Stadium to then continue on the field of the Atlético coliseum, where the last signing of the season could wear his kit for the first time in front of around 2,000 fans who chanted his name.
Before Cerci wore his kit, our President welcomed him, noting the important work done by the Club to strengthen the team: "Atlético de Madrid has made a great effort in their signings, because they want to keep being a national and international reference point".
Afterwards, it was the turn of Alessio Cerci, who acknowledged the Club’s welcome and said, "It’s a great thrill for me to come to this Club". The Italian attacking player recognized that the group’s atmosphere and their way of working have impressed him: "The first impression is very positive because there’s an extraordinary group backed by a great coach".
The winger from across the Alps said he was familiar with his new Club. "I’ve followed Atlético very closely. I’ll try to contribute and live this happy moment every day, and step by step, without setting a goal, but fighting for all the titles", he said.
Cerci also had words of praise for our fans: "I know that they are passionate and heavily support the team. I live of these things and I like that the fans are is warm towards me. A football player always likes to have great fans supporting him".
