Blockbuster clash against Manchester City in Seoul
This Sunday, at 13:00 CEST, we take on Manchester City at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Our pre-season training camp in Seoul comes to an end this Sunday with a mouth-watering tie against Manchester City at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, kicking off at 13:00 CEST.
After several days of receiving a warm welcome from South Korean fans at various events, our preparations for the start of the league season continue in a match that could see Kang In Lee make his Atlético debut on home soil. We have already faced Getafe, winning 4-1, and Manchester United, losing 2-1, with our pre-season schedule set to conclude against Olympique de Marseille at the CEPAC Vélodrome on Friday 14 August at 17:30 CEST.
The English side, meanwhile, come into the game having beaten the K-League All Stars 3-1 on Wednesday, after previously losing to Inter on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the opening game of the Enzo Maresca era. The arrival of the Italian coach is the biggest change at City, who brought Pep Guardiola's hugely successful ten-season spell in charge to an end following the conclusion of last season. On the pitch, midfielder Elliot Anderson and winger Jeremy Monga are among their new arrivals.
Sunday's meeting will be the second time the two sides have faced each other at the same venue and, once again, as part of the Coupang Play Series. The previous encounter came in the summer of 2023, when we claimed a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Memphis and Carrasco.
