Bayern Munich, current European champions

Our team will head to Munich to face the current European and German champions, who we’ve played several times in the last five years.

Atleti are to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League Group Stage.

Founded in 1900, the German side are the current European and German champions. In fact, they’re on course to winning a historic sextuple, having recently lifted the German and UEFA Super Cups. The Bavarians are also one of only four clubs to have won the Champions League, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and UEFA Cup.

Bayern Munich are Germany’s most successful club with 30 Bundesliga titles, 20 German Cups and eight German Super Cups. They’ve also won the Champions League six times, having won it this summer. They were also crowned as European champions in 1974, 1975, 1976, 2001 and 2013.

They play at the Allianz Arena since 2005. The stadium holds up to 68,000 spectators. We played there in the 2015/16 Champions League semi-finals, securing a spot in the final, and in the 2016/17 group stage.

The German club have world-class players such as Lewandowsi, Neuer, Kimmich and Müller. This summer, they’ve also signed Leroy Sané.
