Our team has faced the German side six times, boasting an impressive record of five wins and one draw.

Atleti are to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Group Stage.

The German club were founded in 1903 and won the UEFA Cup in 1988. They also reached the Champions League final in the 2001/02 season. Phenomenal players such as Völler, Kirsten and Ballack have worn the red and black shirt.

We have faced Bayer Leverkusen six times. Both sides met in the 2015 and 2017 Champions League Last 16. The first time, Atleti went through on penalties following an aggregate score of 1-1, whereas the second time our team earned a 4-2 aggregate win.

The German club are currently managed by Peter Bosz, who last season led his team to the 4th spot in the Bundesliga.

Bayer Leverkusen play their home games at BayArena, which hosts 30,000 spectators. The stadium was opened in 1958 and renovated in 1997 and 2009. It will be the third time was play at the German club’s home.
