Back to work. The 2020/21 pre-season begins
Our players have reported back for their first day of pre-season training at the Wanda Atlético de Madrid Training Complex in Majadahonda. Under Simeone’s instructions, our players will be preparing ahead of our upcoming season debut in late September.
The team got back to work today for the 2020/21 pre-season at the Wanda Atlético de Madrid Training Complex. First Team players underwent COVID-19 tests yesterday ahead of the start of pre-season training. Following protocol, sessions were carried out individually and distributed in three fields. Most of the squad reported back to training, excluding those on international duty, and Diego Costa and Santiago Arias.
During the first few days, sessions will be based in Majadahonda, and will later be moved to Los Ángeles de San Rafael from Monday, Sept. 7. Following our decades-long tradition, part of the pre-season will take place in Los Ángeles de San Rafael, however, it will be shorter than usual. Nonetheless, it will be as demanding as always with the sole objective to get in top shape for the upcoming campaign.
After finishing the first stage of the pre-season, the team will go back to Majadahonda to resume training sessions at the Wanda Atlético de Madrid Training Complex. The first pre-season fixture will feature a trip to Cadiz to dispute the “Trofeo Ramón de Carranza” on Sept. 15 at 21:00. Due to last season’s UCL quarter-finals clash, our debut will be delayed until the weekend of Sept. 26, where we will host Granada to kick off the 2020/21 season.
