Atlético train without the presence of their international players

Sergio Agüero has a wisdom tooth pulled

The Atlético de Madrid players returned to training after the day off granted them by Quique Sánchez Flores. It was a session plagued by absences, as six players were missing from the Majadahonda facilities due to heading off to training camps with their respective national teams.

Perea is off with Colombia, but will coincidentally train at the Majadahonda Sports Complex to get ready for his commitments against Ecuador and Chile. Forlán and Godín, who will take on Estonia and Northern Ireland, are in camp with Uruguay. Elías has travelled to Brazil to meet up with his national team for its fixture next Sunday against Scotland in London. Finally, Under-21 Spanish national team members Joel and Fran Mérida, who will play a friendly match against France in Reims on Thursday, were also absent from the group of players who trained on Monday 21 March.

Sergio Agüero was also missing from the afternoon session. The Argentinean headed to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth removed and, after the operation, stayed at home to get some rest. For his part, Ujfalusi remained in the gym doing alternative work apart from the group. As regards Alberto Perea and Borja González, the two youngsters didn’t practice after having played with Atlético de Madrid B on Sunday. On the other hand, Pulido did train with his teammates as he did not play with the reserves due to a suspension.

The positive news of the day was the presence of three Atlético de Madrid Juvenil División de Honor players, Robin, Mendoza and Marcos, who completed the session without problems and left a good impression on the coaching staff.

The training session, which began with a warm-up, continued with ball possession games, finishing drills and concluded with a small-sided practice match.
