Atlético suffer their first league defeat of the season

Atlético de Madrid suffered their first league defeat of the season in the RCDE Stadium. A Sergio García goal in the final minutes of the match gave Espanyol the win.

Atlético started off strongly and had more possession and opportunities than Espanyol. The Catalan side defended well and most of Atleti's chances were cleared by defenders for corner kicks.

The second half was more of the same and Atleti had great chances to score. Diego Godín scored, but the goal was called off due to a foul in the build up play. Later, Kevin Gameiro nearly scored but his shot went straight to Espanyol keeper Pau López.

In the final minutes of the match, Sergio García scored for Espanyol and gave Atlético their first league defeat of the 2017/18 LaLiga season.
