Atlético return to work to prepare for the Cup match against Espanyol
Forlán, with a fever, doesn’t take part in the session
There’s no time to lose. The ‘rojiblanco’ squad returned to training on Monday morning 20 December with their sights set on the Copa del Rey fixture against Espanyol. The Atleti players want to gain revenge from the league defeat to the Catalan side and haven’t forgotten about that game.
As is usual after matches, the team was divided into two groups in the practice held at the Majadahonda Sports Complex facilities. Those who started against Málaga did regenerative work, while the rest of the team completed a more intense session. After everyone worked out in the gym for 30 minutes, the group of players who started the match on the bench began with a warm-up and then moved into small-sided possession games, finishing drills and that wrapped things up with a small-sided scrimmage.
On the other hand, Uruguayan striker Diego Forlán headed to the Sports Complex, but after being examined by the medical services, headed home to recover from a fever.
