Atletico launch their new kit
Here are the new kits that Nike has designed for next season and will be worn by the red and whites in the league, Champions League, Super Cup and Copa del Rey. One of the highlights is the away shirt inspired by the club crest.
Atletico Madrid presents its new kit for the 2013/2014 season has a slightly darker blue reminiscent of the kit in the glorious 60s while the away kit is inspired by the club crest.
The first kit shows the red and blue colours similar to the kit worn by Atletico when they won the King's Cup and the League in the 1965-1966 season.
The shirt has the iconic red and white stripes of Atletico, while the sleeves are red with a white band. It has a striking red neck finished with a smooth blue peak, inspired by the team in the 60s. The shorts of the new home kit are blue and will be accompanied by red socks with a white stripe on top.
For next season, Atletico will play with an impressive second kit inspired by the vibrant colours of the club crest, breaking with the dark blue and black from recent years. The design consists of a modern block with a yellow block in the centre and thinner blue one on each side. The design is repeated on the back. The garment known for its cross neck with yellow piping peak and its blue sleeves with banded yellow cuffs.
The new shorts of the away kit are blue with a thin yellow stripe along the sides, while the socks are yellow with a blue stripe and white top and a blue block on the back.
Both kits include a label in the neck with a new slogan for the club where you can read '110 years of legend', in honor of the anniversary of the club, as well as a small Spanish flag on the back in reference to the identification with national sentiment.
The first kit officially goes on sale from next June 20th and the second kit a month later, they’re available for to reserve in our online store starting today.
Features and technological capabilities of our new kit
Recycled Polyester
• The jersey is made of recycled polyester as part of Nike's commitment to produce high performance clothing with low environmental impact. The shirt and shorts for each kit are manufactured with up to thirteen plastic water bottles recycled.
• In this pioneering process, the bottles are cut into flakes and then are melted to form a ball which is rotated at high speed to remove the tissue. Thanks to this system, consumption is reduced by up to 30% compared to manufacturing virgin polyester.
• By using recycled polyester, Nike has been reused more than 1.1 billion plastic bottles since 2010 from landfills.
Fabric and Nike Dri-FIT
• The kit weighs only 150 grams, 23% lighter than previous Nike kits. Further characterized by a fabric structure 20% stronger and clearly superior flexibility.
• Thanks to the Nike Dri-FIT technology, it removes sweat from the body through the tissue until it evaporates, thus keeping the player cool and dry.
• For added comfort and thermal regulation, it including ventilation zones, consisting of tiny laser cut holes in the armpits and on the elastic band of the shorts. Thanks to the mesh panel that runs across the back, increasing airflow.
Adjustment and Preparation
• The shirt has been made from T-shaped rods fused to reinforce the seams at key points; also has welded interior seams for a clean finish to offer a striking design while increasing comfort and performance.
Nike Pro Combat
• In order to complete the definitive kit for modern football, include Nike Pro Combat apparel to wear below the game day jersey, which provide players with a greater degree of comfort and impact protection.
• The Nike Pro Combat range of short sleeved tops and long, made of anti-sweat fabric, allows players to stay cool and dry in warm conditions, and warm and dry when the temperature drops. The heaters noted for their extra cushioning and protection for the thighs, designed to absorb impact and allow the player to hit the ground with greater security.
