Atlético finish the preseason training camp with the objective completed
The coaching team designed a program to prepare for the first game of the Europa League
The coaching staff of Atlético Madrid led by Gregorio Manzano, has carried out the planned development plan for the eleven days of preseason in Los Angeles de San Rafael. The aim of this work has been to reach an optimal level of physical preparation and tactics in order to start in the third round of the UEFA Europa League next July 28 at the Vicente Calderon against the Norwegian side Stromsgodset. The manager was assited by his coaching team of Juan Vizcaino, Ruben Baraja, Toni Servera and Joan Mesquida.
The technical team developed a work plan which in the early days had an impact on physical activity in the mornings at the Club de Golf ASR combined with gym work in smaller groups. In the evening the ball brought in to play , working on defensive and attacking combinations that Manzano wanted to implement within his new squad.
The coaching staf f also took the time out to talk with variuos groups of players to explain what will be expected from them in the field of play.
In the second week purely physical activity has decreased to make way for tactical work and exercises with the ball in double sessions in both the morning and afternoon. Players like Joao Miranda and Alvaro Dominguez joined the group late but were introduced to the session progressively, starting with the physical and later joining in eith the group.
Oscar Pitillas has been helpling with the recovery process of players like Mario Suárez, Sergio Asenjo y Eduardo Salvio who had undergone various surgeries. Under the supervision of Dr. Jose Maria Villalon, the three players have continued to work to the schedule and Salvio Mario Suarez has joined the group in recent sessions. The perfect care of the players has been made possible thanks to the work of physiotherapists Esteban Arévalo, David Loras y Jesús Vázquez and nurse Gorka de Abajo.
On the other hand, Dr. Antonio Escribano joined the party on Wednesday the 13th to carry out their studies on the ideal weight of each player giving them dietary advice on Thursday and Friday in 20 minute meetings with each player.
The training camp has gone smothly in Los Angeles de San Rafael thanks to the successful coordination of the delegate Pedro Pablo Matesanz. Smooth running of the session was down Ricardo Sánchez, Cirilo Gutiérrez and Cristian Bautista making sure the players have had at all times the material needed to carry out the preseason workout.
