It could not be. Atletico Madrid played a great match during the 90 minutes but in the extra time, Sergio Ramos scored the 1-1 and it was a critical move, because in the second part of the extension, Bale first, Marcelo afterwards and, after a penalty, Ronaldo, closed a final with a result too cruel for an Atlético de Madrid, which didn’t deserve such a punishment.

The end had begun as expected, with a lot of tension in both teams, with an Atlético de Madrid with Diego Costa in the starting eleven, but it was short-lived on the pitch, because he had to be replaced by Adrian after 9 minutes. The team was well positioned since the beginning and did not leave any gaps for Real Madrid. Chances were scarce on this first act, since both teams only created danger with set pieces.

The first one to try his luck was Raúl García, from outside the box, but his shot went wide. Madrid’s players tried it with Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, both with direct fouls that were saved by Courtois. Bale had Real Madrid’s best chance but his shot found no goal. Godin did find the goal and scored the first with a precise header after a header pass from Juanfran. The goal was the golden pin to a first half where our guys hade been firm in the defence and blunt in the attack. But we had to suffer in the second half because Real Madrid was going to try in every possible way. Courtois had to send to the corner a direct free-throw from Ronaldo. The answer came from Adrian, who was saved by Khedira and sent to the corner. Ronaldo and Bale tried but their shots didn’t find the goal.

In the last breath of the injury time, Sergio Ramos took the final to extra time with a header from a corner kick by Modric. The extra time was a nightmare for our team. The tie had been a blow and the team was very punished physically. Juanfran ended with pains, Koke also and in the second half of the extra time, Bale and Marcelo decided the match for the whites.
