Aiming for a second Champions League win
Simeone’s men take on Union Saint-Gilloise this Tuesday at 21:00 CEST at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Atlético face the Belgian side on Matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase. The game kicks off at 21:00 CEST at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Atleti currently have three points in the competition, thanks to a 5-1 win over Frankfurt in their only home match so far. Their two other fixtures, both away in England, ended in defeats — 3-2 against Liverpool and 4-0 against Arsenal. Domestically, however, Atlético are in fine form, with three consecutive wins in LaLiga. The most recent came on Saturday, when goals from Julián Alvarez, Almada and Griezmann sealed a dominant 3-0 victory over Sevilla. That result extended Atleti’s unbeaten home run to six matches across LaLiga and the Champions League.
Union Saint-Gilloise also have three points in the group, earned with a 3-1 away win at PSV on Matchday 1. Since then, they’ve suffered 4-0 defeats to Newcastle United and Inter. In their domestic league, though, Union sit top of the table with 32 points — three ahead of Brugge. On Saturday, they claimed a convincing 4-1 win over Zulte Waregem.
This will be the first official meeting between Atlético and Union Saint-Gilloise. Let’s go for the win!
