Atlético de Madrid return to work after the Christmas holiday

Forlán, with permission from the Club, will rejoin the group on the 31st

Atlético de Madrid returned to training after the days off granted the players by Quique Sánchez Flores for Christmas. It was a session with several absences, as several members of the squad weren’t present in Majadahonda.

Diego Forlán is in his country recovering from the right ankle sprain that he suffered during the Copa del Rey match against Espanyol. The striker is working with the Uruguayan national team physiotherapist, and has permission from the Club to rejoin the team on 31 December.

Godín, Diego Costa and Elías, who headed for their respective countries to spend Christmas, also missed out on the first session, but will be back for Wednesday’s training session on the 29th.

For their part, Ignacio Camacho and Sergio Asenjo, who will play at Málaga, attended the ‘rojiblanco’ facilities to say goodbye to those who have been their teammates.

The session, which lasted a little more than 90 minutes, included reserve squad players Vitor and Míchel. After beginning with an aerobic warm-up, they moved into some keepaway games in circles. After this, Quique Sánchez did some possession work with finishing, then continued with a small-sided practice match on the half-pitch.
