Chasing a tenth consecutive home win

Atlético will be looking for a tenth straight victory at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano this Saturday. Diego Simeone’s men take on Real Oviedo at 21:00 CET in what will be the second match of the week at our stadium, following the thrilling Champions League win over Inter. In that match, played last Wednesday, our team won 2-1 thanks to goals from Julián Álvarez and José María Giménez, the latter deep into added time.
Before the win over the Italian side, Atleti secured an important league victory last weekend away to Getafe (1-0), which took us to 28 points in the LaLiga table, where we currently sit in fourth place.
Real Oviedo, meanwhile, come into the game following a goalless draw against Rayo Vallecano. The point earned against the Madrid side at the Carlos Tartiere took their tally to nine in the league, which sees them in 20th position.
This will be our first league meeting against the Asturian side since 2002. On that occasion, Atleti won 3-2 away thanks to a brace from Correa and a goal from Carreras. The most recent encounter with Real Oviedo, however, came much more recently: a 2-0 victory on 4 January 2023 in the Copa del Rey third round, with Llorente and Barrios on the scoresheet.
