Atlético de Madrid lost in Denmark

Atlético de Madrid made a stand in the knockout match of the round of 16 of the Youth League, but ended up losing against Midtjylland in the penalty shootouts by 5-4, with a shot saved by Santomé which the referee ordered be repeated.

One-game knockout round between Midtjylland and Atlético de Madrid to qualify for the round of 16 of the Youth League. Thychosen scored for the locals first. Five minutes later came the equaliser by Juan Moreno. And Theo masterfully scored a goal with a rocket into the corner of the net. But Anderson scored the 2-2 on 43 minutes of an electric and vibrant first half.

The second half was just like the first, with alternatives and great goals. Andrés put our team ahead but the scoreboard was quickly turned around. When the match was ending, a header from Rubén Fernández tied the game towards the penalty shootouts. Toni Moya missed the second of our boys and the referee ordered the third of Danes to be repeated, with controversy, which Santomé had saved but Olsen scored in the repetition. The team was out of the competition.
