A STRATEGIC AGREEMENT WAS PRESENTED IN NANNING AS PART OF THE CHINA CUP

Atlético de Madrid lands in China alongside Wanda Sports

Our club and Wanda Sports will sign this Thursday the agreement to develop the Atlético de Madrid brand in China, promote the project of training talented young people and open two commercial offices in Beijing and Chengdu.

The Guanxi Sports Centre Stadium at Nanning will host the China Cup and has been the place chosen by our club and Wanda Sports to announce a strategic agreement for both entities that will be signed in Nanning.

Presented by Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, Atletico’s CEO, during the event 'The Night of Atlético de Madrid', and attended by managers of Atlético de Madrid and Wanda Sports, with its president, Hengming Yang, at the head. The vice-president of Wanda Sports, Dongwei Yang was also there. Our international Uruguayans, Diego Godín and José María Giménez, concentrated with their national team in Nanning to play the China Cup, did not miss the event either.

During his speech, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín explained that the agreement with Wanda Sports has three objectives. On the one hand, to develop the Atlético de Madrid brand in the Asian country through different digital marketing initiatives to be closer to the local fans.

Another of the goals is to identify, together with Wanda Sports, two locations in China in which to open two headquarters of the Academy to complete the first phase of training talented young people of the international project who will later continue their progression in Madrid, as they have been doing for the last six years.

Finally, two commercial offices will also be opened in Beijing and Chengdu under the umbrella of Wanda Sports with the purpose of closing commercial agreements and the development of business in the Asian giant.
